Cruisin' in the Rock
Presented by Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau
Hosted by Arkansas Pontiac Association
CRUISIN IN THE ROCK August 15, 2008
And they say football players are tough well I am here to state that car people are just as tough! Cruisers came out last month during what seemed to be the hottest most humid day thus far in July. The pavilions filled up quickly, the skillet was next and then the center of Riverfront Park became an extended sea of beautiful paint and shiny chrome! In fact, the Arkansas Pontiac Association ladies ran out of window placards at registration but the cars and trucks just continued to cruise in.
This past Friday the evening began with fall-like weather... And then the thunder and rain decided to join us. Several thunderstorms were popping up all over the state, which meant not many folks would venture out; particularly those in the surrounding cities. WRONG! We filled the pavilions, the skillet and used a portion of the park to display the vehicles. I believe the APA ladies registered about 90 cruisers, as well as playing host to a large number of spectators. As I always say Car People be the Bomb!
In addition to a typical evening of networking, selecting and presenting awards and listening to great music, a special presentation was made by Dan OByrne, CEO for the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau, recognizing the clubs that volunteered many hours during Hot Rod Power Tour and Cruisapalooza this past June. The clubs recognized were Arkansas Pontiac Association, CAMS, Central Arkansas Corvette Club and Vertically Challenged Car Club.
For your pleasure, we have downloaded several photos for you to enjoy. We extend a big thank you to all of the participants and spectators that continue to support the monthly cruises, as well as all of the automotive events sponsored by LRCVB.
Our next cruise is scheduled for Friday, September 5th [please note the date change from Friday September 12th.] We certainly hope you can join us.
As always, cruise safe
